Course Description:
If you are preparing to write your college essays, this is the course for you! Essay writing can seem like a daunting task, but it is a process that is made easier by understanding the components of a successful essay. Once broken down into its essential elements, college essay writing is made more comprehensible and straightforward. Ultimately, admission officers are interested in hearing about you–meaning hopes, aspirations, experiences, or thoughts that are unique to you.
In this course, you will learn how to choose a topic for your college essays and how to use language to create a compelling essay. Lesson One explains the importance of topic choice and how to choose the best topic for you. It also includes personal characteristics you should promote through your writing. In conjunction, Lesson Two explains how to use rhetorical devices and diction in your writing; it details different strategies you can use to make your essay flow and compel readers. Finally, Lesson Three explains the editing process in-depth and provides tips on avoiding turning in an essay with common errors.
