Hello and welcome to the CCR Student course on how to apply to colleges using the common app. My name is Ellen Batsaikhan and I will be your instructor for the day.
The Common Application (more well known as the Common App), is an advanced college application system. With the help of the Common App, students like you are able to apply to many schools all at once without the hassle of a long-drawn-out process. Although the Common App doesn’t have access to let students apply to EVERY single institution that they desire, this program helps out with the application process to a mass amount of undergraduate programs all around the world.
The common app serves as a highly beneficial way to apply to colleges. The main beneficiary is time. The Common App saves your time by having you fill out the application ONLY ONCE, then sending it out to some of the 701 schools in which you have applied to that accept this program rather than wasting time filling out several forms. Another benefit is the fact that the Common App keeps track of important information. For example, this includes potential schools’ deadlines and requirements. This helps students submit their application, essays, and helpful documents (like letters of recommendation) on time. Lastly, by using the Common App, some students worry that it will affect their acceptance into colleges, but it won’t! All of the schools that are included in the C0mmon App system have signed a document that states they are not allowed to favor the traditional school applications over other options such as the common app digital form.
And with all of this, the Common App can help students venture into a successful future with just 4 easy steps!
